Pastor Bill Welzien is the Evangelist/Director of Keys Evangelistic Ministries. He has been so since late June 1986. What does he do? He preaches the Gospel in the open air but with an interesting twist. He utilizes an easel and bright primary color tempera paints.

He paints boxes and then turns the boxes into letters by making dots and dashes in each box. The letters in each box form key words in each presentation. Each of his audio/visual presentations of the Gospel of Jesus Christ takes about 20 minutes. And each is chock full of essential Gospel facts.

Pastor Welzien preaches each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Key West Mallory Square Sunset Celebration. After each message, he offers free, gospel tracts to the listeners. This leads to fascinating conversations with skeptics, people of a variety of religions, critics, and also true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. Pastor Welzien finds his ministry both challenging and rewarding.

His wife, Denise is his greatest source of encouragement in the ministry. She often accompanies her husband to the pier and takes care of much-needed office work. Together they form a formidable team!

The Welziens often travel to minister at local churches and encourage fellow believers in the area of evangelism. The work of Keys Evangelistic Ministries depends on the prayers and financial gifts of God's people.
