Our History
Since its founding, LaGrange Baptist Church has been used by God to further the Gospel and strengthen the Body of Christ in Western New York.
On April 20, 1825, a company of people who loved the Lord met in a farmhouse just north of LaGrange Corners to discuss starting a church in that location. After much prayer and consideration, The Baptist Church of Covington and Perry began. The initial meetings were held in a barn on a farm and then moved into a schoolhouse.
In 1833, the name of the church was changed from The Baptist Church of Covington and Perry to LaGrange Baptist Church.
In 1835, the church was moved into the current building, where services remained except for a brief time in 1869 when renovations were performed on the building.
From revivals to weathering dire circumstances like the Spanish Flu following World War I, the church has experienced both highs and lows throughout the years. But by the grace of God, it has remained focused on the mission to encourage and equip every Christian to be conformed to the image of Christ through Bible teaching, preaching, fellowship, and prayer.
